animating spirit markers in nêhiyawêwin (plains cree language) for: amisk âwa (beaver) êkwa sipiy âwa (river) with the damming + overlapping of vision + voice through digital + organic tones. searching for moments of intensification, syncopation, dissonance + release. embodying sound through somatic practices where body becomes both beaver and dam, voice is architect to the titration of trauma, the repair of memory + the process of bearing witness.
created during the indigenous artists residency at clark/icc, march 2021.
